I want to start investing in property and have been told/read that ideally i should set up a property trust, to protect against personal liability, and other various reasons. How do i go about this?, Who do i go to to do it (ie lawyer, accountant, etc)? What does it do? How much does it cost to set up?is there a company that does this sort of thing? Anything else worthwhile that i need to know please tell. I am based in Melbourne. Thanks, and i will award the best answer (of course)

Setting up a trust can be done through your accountant and solisator, set up cost depend on the trust proprerty and how complex or simple the investments are for a professional generally from $990 upwards with about $200 annual fee..

you could set one up yourself for about $140 but there is some fine print work that you need to understand but for a standard trust that covers assets thats all it cost..I think if you get this mth issue of ( Money ) magazine its the one with the {blue cover feb / jan } from the local newsagent it has a wright up about the web sites you can visit to set a trust up by yourself…Andy if your going to start investing in property and you wish to know how the acquire the secrets of the mega rich make and keep and set up there foundation so you can do the same..

I am desperately seeking a rental property in melbourne’s eastern suburbs. I need 2 or more bedrooms, under $260pw and for it to allow pets! I have been having a lot of trouble finding somewhere that will allow me to keep my cat and dog. The dog does not come inside and the cat is only inside (in a laundry or bathroom) during the night. Im guessing you are from another country and you mean the houses whose owners have claimed bankruptcy and the banks are auctioning them off. Normally there are notices in the local newspapers a week or so before. If you dont have access to the newspapers go to
www.realestate.com.au
Once you get there search houses for sale in victoria and enter any suburbs you might like. If you want melbourne city also include st kilda, geelong and fitzroy.
If that doesnt help some australian real estate agencies are
Ray white, raine and horne, Lj hooker, century 21, elders and so on if you put a .com.au after them youll be able to get there websites

There is nothing in the law that disallows it. The beginning of the lease term is subject to negotiation between the tenant and the landlord. If the property is ready to move-in the landlord would probably be tickled pink to let you move in tomorrow.

I work as a sex worker in Melbourne, Australia and I want to buy property but all my money is cash in hand. youl have to be able to prove where you got the money from (they just wana make sure its not from crime) which could be a problem beacuse i guess you like most people would dont declare all of it. Not sure if sex work is legal there if not then your in a tricky situation. sorry cant be more help

Me and my partner are trying to get into private rental in northern melbourne, Australia we seem to be having trouble because we are young 20 & 19 and have no previous rental history…..i was wondering if anyone knew of any agents that are more open minded and might give us a property, i have to leave where i am by the end of march and i am starting to get worried, any tips on what i can do to stand out?

Just get your friends to lie for you by pretending to be private landlords – get the real estate to call their mobiles, and email them all the details of what to say beforehand. That’s what I did when I was your age in inner city Melbourne. Ironically, I’m now a landlord. But if you rang up with no rental history, I wouldn’t give you the place. So lie instead, pay your rent on time, and presto, you have a nice reference for the next place you let.
